This trip is an amazing mix of wildlife and African cultural experiences. Our relationship with the local Maasai people allow us to have greater access and a more enriching experience with our Maasai friends. Our selection of national parks and conservation area locations have been hand picked to ensure the most authentic and fullfilling African safari experiences.
In the fall of 2008, walking safaris became allowed on a limited basis in the Serengeti National Park. We are proud to be one of the few allowed to offer this amazing experience. Escorted by our guides, our junior elder Maasai warrior and a national parker ranger, we are able to explore these amazing lands many miles away from the disturbance of noisy vehicles or other travelers. This is the true African Safari that people fantasize about. We travel through remote areas were humans haven't set foot in over a half a century. You're able to let your senses take over and absorb all these lands have to offer without the obstruction of any artificial barriers. You're literally walking in the footprints of the many species that have roamed these lands for thousands of years. You can buy books, look at pictures and watch documentaries, but nothing will ever get you close to the often life changing experiences this trip provides.
In addition to the Serengeti we travel to 3 other national parks (Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara) all of which have varying landscapes with amazing wildlife waiting for us to see. Arusha National Park lies between the beautiful mountains of Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park is home to a variety of wildlife including giraffes, elephants, cape buffalo and over 400 species of birds. Tarangire National Park with its' permanent river attracks a large gathering thristy wildlife especialy during the dry season where the heards of elephants can be spectacular. The park welcomes wildebeest, zebra, elephants, giraffes, elephants, impala, leopards and rhinos among many other animals. Many of these animals we can see as we look down upon the river from our lodge with our sundowners as the sun sets. Lake Manyara National Park boost one of the largest pools of hippos as well as the famous tree climbing lions, baboons, wildebeest and tremendous numbers of flamingos.
Another highlight of the trip is the world famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area and its' incredible Ngorongoro crater. The crater formed when a massive volcano collapsed in upon itself, leaving the largest intact caldera (crater) in the world. At approximatetly 12 miles in diameter, it is reported to have the greatest concentration of wildlife in all of Afria. It is here that the rare African Black Rhino calls home. Also found within the crater are zebra, gazelles, ostrich, wildebeests, leopards, lions, elephants, baboons and many other animals.
